It runs in an east-west direction starting from West Walnut Street and crosses North 1st Street, South 1st Street, Northeast 2nd Street, Southeast 2nd Street, Northeast 3rd Street, Southeast 3rd Street and Southeast 4th Street and ends at Southeast 6th Street. East Walnut Street is also known as County E51 Road. This street is part of the highway "Lincoln Highway - original route (1913) - Iowa". East Walnut Street also exists in Polk County, Warren County, Story County, Buena Vista County and Marshall County.
