Silfra – ca. 100 m.

Stóra Sprungan. 120 metres long - features both the deepest and the shallowest points of the rift. This is also the narrowest section. The greatest depth is 42 m, and the shallowest point half a meter. The tectonic plates are so close here that you can touch them both – ca. 150 m.

Grynningar – ca. 150 m.

Salurinn. The space between the walls widens out to 8 metres (26 feet). More light and brighter colors fill the water and massive boulders and rocks lie on the bottom at a depth of 14 metres (46 feet). – ca. 250 m.

Silfra Lónið. The shallow Silfra Lagoon where vibrantly green algae thrive in summer. This is a picturesque lagoon with an average depth of 5 metres – ca. 300 m.

Kirkjan. Swimming through it feels as if you are flying above the majestic landscape of the fissure. You can see the 100-metre long and 23-metre deep walls which even rise above the surface at some points. It looks like a massive, ancient cathedral – ca. 300 m.

Sandbrekkan – ca. 350 m.

Flekaskilin (hjólastólaaðgengilegt). boundary between between the North American plate and Hreppar microplate (This fragment does not belong to the North American plate or the Eurasian plate, but is regarded as an independent crustal plate, a kind of microplate – ca. 450 m.

Öxarárfoss – ca. 1,1 km.

Þingvellir: Hjarta lands og þjóðar (hjólastólaaðgengilegt, WLAN, Þingvellir National Park, Opnunartími: Mán–Sun 9–18, fee required, vef). The exhibition "Heart of Iceland" combines with interactive method both history and nature of Thingvellir National Park. The Visitor centre is located near the park´s main viewpoint at Hakið, where a footpath leads down into the great Alma – ca. 600 m.
