It runs in a southeast-northwest direction starting from Longfield Street and crosses Foster Street, Leslie Street, Sutherland Street, Burgh Street, Sloane Street, Holloway Road Central and Gilchrist Road and ends at Western Highway. Ararat Road is also known as Western Highway. This road is part of the long-distance road "A8".
