A sign for the Polly Road. This sign has appeared overnight. This quiet country lane has always been known as The Polly (or Pollie) Road but why was the sign needed and why does it lead to 'Curragh'. It leads to a broad area of land which most people call 'The Curraghs'. The name Polly comes from a nearby pool of water (originally two adjacent pools) known as The Pollies.
