It runs in a southeast-northwest direction starting from Phoenix–Wickenburg Highway and crosses Central Arizona Project Canal Service Road, West Patton Road, North 193rd Avenue, North 191st Avenue, West Jomax Road, Rancho Boulevard, West Happy Valley Road, West Norwich Drive, West Deer Valley Road, North 163rd Avenue and North Sunrise Boulevard. It connects Maricopa County, Surprise and El Mirage. Grand Avenue is also known as Wickenburg–Phoenix Highway. This street is part of the highways STRAHNET route: Phoenix - Las Vegas, 60 and Former US 70 (AZ 1969). Grand Avenue also exists in Glendale.
