It runs in an east-west direction starting from West Main Street and crosses South Vine Street, Carter Street, Birch Lane, Evergreen Court, Price Place, Linden Lane, Oakwood Lane, Lake View Drive, Pinecrest Drive and Bock Road and ends at Dana Lane. It connects Sangamon County and Williamsville. This street is part of the Bicycle route "Route 66". East Main Street also exists in Godley, Braceville, Barrington, Collinsville and Pana.
