It runs in a north-south direction starting from Crapo Street and crosses Furnace Street, Thomas, Steele Street, George Street, Lincoln Avenue, Grant Street, Sherman Street, Washington Avenue, Sheridan Street, Lake Street and Pearson Street. Frankfort Avenue is also known as Old M-168. This street is part of the highways 22 and LMCT as well as the Bicycle route "35 (Michigan)". Frankfort Avenue also exists in Wayne County.
