It runs in an east-west direction and crosses St Georges Road, McGowan Avenue, Elizabeth Street, Mehegan Avenue, Connolly Avenue, Jackson Parade, Outlook Road, College Boulevard, Newlands Road, Stockade Avenue, Champ Street and Gaffney Street. It ends in a cul-de-sac and connects Preston, Coburg North, Coburg and Heidelberg West. Murray Road also exists in Diamond Creek, Ormond, McKinnon, Croydon and Eden Park.
