It runs in a northeast-southwest direction starting from The Ox Drove Way and ends at Red Lane. Down Lane is also known as The Ox Drove Way. This road is part of the mountain bike routes Abbotstone Down Off-Road Cycle Trail and The Ox Drove mountain bike route and the hiking trail "Ox Drove Way". Down Lane also exists in Mapledurwell and Up Nately.
