Northumberland Way in Sunderland is a two-lane, asphalted, lit main road. The road has no sidewalks. There is no cycle path. It runs in an east-west direction starting from Princess Anne Interchange and crosses Biddick Lane Roundabout. This road is part of the long-distance road "A195". Northumberland Way also exists in Gateshead.
