It runs in an east-west direction starting from Washington Street and crosses Emery Corner Road, Prospect Street, Park Street, Pine Street, Dora Lane, Hillview Avenue, Severin Way, Pickerel Pond Road, Doles Ridge Road, Pleasant Hill Road and Leavitt Brook Road. Central Avenue is also known as State Route 11. This street is part of the highway "11". Central Avenue also exists in Kittery, York, Sanford, Kennebunk and Wells.
