It runs in a northeast-southwest direction starting from North Main Street and crosses East Jackson Street, West Jackson Street, East 1st Street, West 1st Street, East 2nd Street, West 2nd Street, East 3rd Street, West 3rd Street, East 4th Street, West 4th Street and East 5th Street. South Main Street is also known as South Dixie Highway. This street is part of the highways 73, 123 and Dixie Highway from Dayton to Middletown (1918).
