It runs in a northeast-southwest direction and crosses Cardwell Street, Clarke Street, Elmore - Raywood Road, Childers Street, Wright Street, Smith Street, Burnewang Street, Weir Road, Margaret Street and Midland Highway. It ends in a cul-de-sac. Northern Highway is also known as Railway Place. This road is part of the long-distance road "B75".
